Description Technical Specs Instruction Manual

The Hazelbeker Finger Feeder is a special need baby feeding device that was designed to be easily used in one hand, ensuring feed consistency. When baby cannot be fed at the breast to provide the touch of human skin as in breastfeeding Hazelbaker Finger Feeder will assist to conquer this issue. Allows infant to pace the feeding process. Fingerfeeder promotes proper and sequential contraction of the tongue and masticatory muscles. Trusted by Lactation Professionals when babies have feeding difficulties. Reusable, easy to assemble and clean. The Hazelbaker FingerFeeder is durable and can be used indefinitely for the same baby. It can be sanitized and sterilized making it ideal for longer-term use when indicated. Requires the baby to pace the feed. Milk will not flow unless the baby exerts effort that mimics good sucking at breast.
Features

The Hazelbaker™ FingerFeeder is designed to encourage the baby to pace their feeding. Milk will only flow when the baby exerts the necessary effort, mimicking the sucking action needed at the breast. The device includes a feature that allows the caregiver to gently squeeze the milk container if the baby struggles to create enough suction. However, if squeezed too hard, the top will pop off, preventing excessive flow and protecting the baby’s airway.

While switching to a slower flow bottle teat can address some feeding issues, the Hazelbaker™ FingerFeeder effectively prevents these problems by ensuring that the baby develops proper feeding techniques and avoids issues such as flow preference and nipple confusion.

What is finger feeding?

Finger-Feeding Overview

Finger-feeding is an age-old technique used to provide nourishment to infants who have difficulty breastfeeding or need to be temporarily separated from their mother. This method offers the benefits of direct human touch and allows the baby to pace their feeding, mimicking the natural breastfeeding experience.

Benefits:

  • Encourages Proper Tongue Placement: By positioning the caregiver’s finger correctly in the baby’s mouth, finger-feeding helps guide the tongue into the optimal position for breastfeeding or maintains its proper function, promoting effective suck-swallow-breathe coordination.
  • Therapeutic Use: It is particularly useful after a frenotomy for tongue-tie or for infants with low intra-oral tone. Finger-feeding can strengthen the tongue and intra-oral muscles and address various sucking problems.

Controlled Flow Rate:

  • Prevents Overwhelming Flow: Many bottles have milk flow rates that are too fast for babies, leading to issues such as interrupted breathing, coughing, or choking. Finger-feeding helps manage the flow rate, reducing these risks and preventing the development of compensatory sucking patterns or nipple confusion.
  • Avoids Flow Preference: Babies accustomed to the instant flow of bottles may become impatient or frustrated at the breast. Finger-feeding helps mitigate this by providing a controlled flow and gradually encouraging proper breastfeeding techniques.

Product Features:

  • Single-Patient Use: Designed for individual use to ensure hygiene and effectiveness.
  • Supplemental Use: Can also be used at the breast to supplement feeding.
  • Controlled Flow Rate System: Allows for adjustment to suit the baby’s needs.
  • Ergonomic Design: Ensures ease of use and comfort.
  • 60 ml Silicone Bulb: Durable and easy to handle.
  • Autoclavable and Boilable: Can be sterilized for safety.

Slow drip is regulated by the height of the bottle, higher rate when further up or you can lower the bottle for slower gravity drip.

We are using the Hazelbaker finger feeder to feed my 4 month old.  She absolutely refuses the bottle,  and I've gone back to work.  It's the only way her caregiver can feed her in a positive note fuss way.
